Augsburg’s old town is compact enough for several teams to be out in it at the same time, and varied enough that no two routes end up looking alike. That is what makes it such a good playing field for a group competition.
You form several teams, start together and have 150 minutes. The winner is not necessarily whoever walks fastest, but whoever communicates well, picks the right stops and keeps an eye on the clock.
The Teams Edition is aimed at companies and corporate events, at groups of friends, clubs and anyone who wants to take on Augsburg together and in competition. For school classes and youth groups there is the Augsburg scavenger hunt for school trips, with tasks adapted for that age group.
Unlike the Sightseeing Edition, your hunt runs as a closed event. Only your own teams appear in the high score, never groups from outside.
That keeps the competition manageable and tied directly to your day. At the end, whoever is organising opens the high score and showdown link and goes through the results with everyone to see who came out on top.
It is particularly useful when your event needs a clear finish, a prize-giving before dinner, for instance.
All teams start at the same time against the same countdown. Which of the roughly 50 stops they head for, and in what order, is up to each team.
Tactics develop quickly. One team picks an area where the stops sit close together and works through a lot of smaller tasks in no time. Another accepts longer walks to reach the stops worth more points.
There is no set route. That is exactly why no two team routes look the same at the end, and exactly what everyone argues about during the review.
Alongside puzzles and knowledge questions, photo and video challenges await the teams. They create the moments people are still talking about after the event, and they lighten up the competition.
Along the way the teams have to stay alert, get creative and decide together which task is worth the effort. That is where the things that make a good group event come from: working it out together, laughing, and having one shared goal.
Every photo submitted ends up in a dedicated gallery that you can send round afterwards. So what is left of the event is not just a high score, but something to look back at.
You book as many accesses as you want teams. After that, you start whenever it fits your day. The only thing that matters is that all teams begin at the same time. Everyone plays on their own devices.
You are tied neither to us nor to any other group, and there is no standard route to follow. As soon as your teams are ready, you can get going.
The Teams Edition makes sense from two or three groups upwards. Below that the hunt still works, but the appeal of playing against each other is missing.
